A complete guide to Bajaj General My Health Care Plan
Why choose My Health Care Plan?
My Health Care Plan is designed for buyers who want a health insurance policy that scales, with their family, their city and their long-term medical needs. The product combines a high sum insured ceiling of up to ₹5 Crore with structural differentiators like Unlimited Reinstatement, Cumulative Bonus, Modern Treatments and Cashless Hospitalisation across a nationwide network. In a metro like Hyderabad, where a single tertiary hospitalisation can cross ₹8–₹10 lakh and specialised oncology or cardiac treatment can go much higher, that combination of high cover and in-year restoration is not just a headline feature, it's what determines whether your family stays financially secure during a difficult year.
Who should buy this plan?
My Health Care Plan is suitable for young professionals who want to lock in low premium and complete waiting periods early, growing families in Hyderabad who need a floater-plus-optional-covers structure that adapts over time, senior citizens looking for a high-ceiling policy with meaningful modern-treatment cover, and buyers with a family history of critical illness who value the safety net of Unlimited Reinstatement combined with a Critical Illness rider. If you already hold a policy elsewhere, you can port to Bajaj General Insurance while retaining continuity benefits, provided portability is initiated at least 45 days before your existing renewal.
What's covered
The base policy covers in-patient hospitalisation and ICU, pre- and post-hospitalisation medical expenses, day-care procedures, road ambulance, AYUSH in-patient treatment, organ donor hospitalisation expenses for covered transplants, home nursing / domiciliary hospitalisation as per policy, and listed Modern Treatments including robotic surgeries and oral chemotherapy. Selected variants also come with No Room Rent Restriction, avoiding the proportionate deduction that many buyers only discover at claim time. Optional covers officially listed by the insurer can be added at proposal or at renewal, letting you tune the policy to your medical history and budget.
What's not covered
Like every health policy, My Health Care Plan carries standard exclusions and waiting periods, an initial waiting period for illnesses (accidents excluded), a pre-existing-disease waiting period, a specified-illness waiting period, and a maternity waiting period (if the maternity option is selected). Cosmetic or aesthetic procedures, self-inflicted injuries, and treatments outside the scope of the wording are excluded. The complete list of permanent exclusions and permanent-partial exclusions is in the insurer's policy wording, and our advisor will walk you through the fine print before you buy.
Family health insurance in Hyderabad
For a young family in Hyderabad we usually start the conversation at a ₹10–₹25 lakh floater and scale up based on parents' age, chronic conditions and preferred hospital network. The floater is the most economical way to cover spouse, dependent children and (subject to policy rules) dependent parents. Once parents cross 55–60, a dedicated senior-citizen structure is often more efficient than adding them to the floater, our advisor compares both options for your specific family and shows the numbers side by side.
Senior citizen and critical illness cover
Because age is the single biggest premium driver, buying senior-citizen cover before 60 makes a meaningful difference to lifetime outgo. My Health Care Plan supports senior citizens through its high sum insured tiers and Modern Treatment cover, particularly valuable for age-related cardiac and oncology treatments. For buyers with a family history of critical illness or single-earner households, adding a Critical Illness rider is worth serious consideration; it pays a lump-sum on diagnosis of listed conditions and can be used for anything from advanced treatment abroad to EMI protection during recovery.
Tax benefits
Under the old tax regime, health insurance premium is eligible for deduction under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, up to ₹25,000 for self and family (₹50,000 if senior) plus an additional ₹25,000 (₹50,000 if senior) for parents. Applicability depends on your individual tax situation, so please confirm with your tax advisor.
Health insurance renewal, protect your continuity
Renewing on or before your due date protects continuity benefits like Super Cumulative Bonus, no-claim increments and completed waiting periods. Even a short lapse can reset your waiting periods for pre-existing and specified illnesses, which can be costly if a claim arises soon after. Our renewal desk proactively reminds you 30 days before expiry, shares an updated quote with sum-insured upgrade suggestions, and completes the renewal online the same day. If you're insured elsewhere today and want better terms, we help you port to Bajaj General Insurance while carrying over your credits, provided the request is initiated at least 45 days before your current renewal.
